California Emergency Managemnent AgencyCalifornia Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) (formerly California Emergency Management Agency-Cal EMA), through a number of divisions and branches, coordinates responses to emergencies in California and the related recovery programs.  Within the agency, the Cal OES Fire and Rescue Branch, divided into six operational regions, coordinates the response of fire resources statewide, manages the California Fire & Rescue Emergency Mutual Aid Plan, and maintains a statewide fleet of fire apparatus, urban search & rescue and swiftwater/flood response vehicles to ensure efficient response to local emergencies.  Additionally, the Fire & Rescue Branch has responsibility to coordinate and ensure the effective delivery of a variety of specialized fire service training courses statewide.

Sacramento Fire Department

Sacramento Fire DepartmentThe Sacramento Fire Department began as a volunteer department on February 5, 1850, one year after the City of Sacramento was incorporated. It is the first volunteer fire department in the western United States. In 1994, the fire department began its Advanced Life Support and Transportation program providing paramedic services and ambulance transportation to the citizens of the city. Nearly seventy percent of the department's incidents are for emergency medical services. To date, the department has 630 employees, 33 fire companies and 11 medic units housed in 25 stations, over one hundred pieces of specialized equipment, and a budget of over 76 million dollars.

Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District

Sacramento Metropolitan Fire DistrictThe Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District provides services through 42 stations and 750 uniformed and support personnel to nearly 600,000 people in a 417 square mile area. Metro Fire represents 16 predecessor fire agencies. Some of these fire agencies were founded in the early twenties to provide fire protection in remote parts of the County.

The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District "Metro Fire" continues to provide the best quality fire protection, fire prevention, fire safety education, emergency medical aid, and other emergency response services.
