Rattle Snake Fire Staff Ride
The intent of a staff ride is to put participants in the shoes of the decision makers on a historical incident in order to learn for the future. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will 1) list, define, and apply chain saw safety standards, 2) incorporate the approved use, maintenance and function of personal protective equipment in Wildland fire chain saw applications, 3) identify basic chain saw parts nomenclature, maintenance, tuning, troubleshooting and safety features, and 4) demonstrate field maintenance tasks required for chain saw operation; demonstrate the tactical application of chain saws in brushing, limbing, bucking, and falling for fireline construction and mop-up operation.

S-339 Division/Group Supervisor - All Risk
This course is designed for individuals qualifying within the ICS as a division/group supervisor. This course supports the specific tasks of the division/group supervisor position on a Wildland fire, but does not provide instruction in general management/supervision or in the incident command system (ICS), both of which the student should learn through prerequisite work. Topics include: division/group management, organizational interaction, division operations, all-hazard operations, and tactical decision games (optional). There is a final examination for this course. At the successful completion of this course, the student will demonstrate an understanding of the duties required of a division/group supervisor in preparation for completing position task book elements.

S-215: Fire Operations in the Wildland/Urban Interface
This course describes the rules and responsibilities of the Single Resource Boss-Firing and Prescribed Fire Ignition Specialist. Other topics include identifying resources needed to conduct an ignition operation for a Wildland or prescribed fire, developing an ignition plan demonstrating the knowledge of fire behavior, firing techniques, holding and hazards, and given scenario, implementing an ignition operation with emphasis on safety, coordination, communications, and evaluation.
